the team
Paul Sparrey joined OSC as Director in January 2020. Originally from London, he now lives in Oxfordshire with his wife Rhonda and three children. Paul is an experienced youth worker, and is currently working in three secondary schools, providing in-school mentoring and mental health support for students, equipping them to deal with a range of challenges, as well as joining the team in delivering lessons, assemblies and lunchtime groups.
Hemara Earl joined OSC as Co-director, working alongside Paul, in August 2023. Hemara hails from Switzerland and Sri Lanka, came to Oxford as a student and never left. Hemara brings a wealth of experience in schools work to OSC, and is passionate about sharing Jesus with teens. She lives in Marston with husband David and six children.
Jo Curtis worked in secondary schools for 20 years before joining OSC four years ago. As well as leading lessons, Jo heads up our volunteer recruitment and training programme, ensuring that all of our volunteers are fully compliant with the expectations of classrooms today. She lives in Oxford, with husband Ian, and two grown up sons.
Our volunteers are a key part of our team. Taking lessons in schools, supporting Christian Unions, delivering laptops to students who need support for home learning, running workshops for students going off to university, the team offer a wealth of activities. We welcome applications from volunteers whose skills and time can support the work of Oxford Schools Chaplaincy, at any time.
