History
The Oxford Schools Chaplaincy is a registered charity (no. 1140387) and a member of the Evangelical Alliance.
Since 2011 Oxford Schools Chaplaincy has been working in state secondary schools around Oxford, to deliver a range of activities, led by local trained Christian volunteers, to be a bridge between schools and their local churches.
In 2023-24, we provided:
- 63 lessons to over 1,550 students
- over 320 hours of individual or small group support and mentoring for those who find school more challenging;
- provided weekly lunchtime or after school Christian Union groups in 5 schools, including outreach events, visiting speakers and Q & A events reaching out to the whole school
- organised teacher support and encouragement events.
We now have 2 full time staff and a team of 15 volunteers from churches around Oxford, becoming familiar faces in school, clearly communicating Christian beliefs, equipping young people to make informed decisions about faith and lifestyle
OSC has partnered with Wycliffe Hall, O.C.C.A. (The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics), Innovista, the Oxford Diocese, BeSpace and Good News for Everyone (formerly Gideons UK) in bringing the message of the Christian faith to schools around Oxford.
